Case studies

Worked examples for questions the step-by-step guide doesn't answer on its own: real data, the datasets to build, and the numbers to check them against.

Each case study starts from a real reporting question. It shows why the obvious approach goes wrong, builds the answer step by step in Xeplr Analytics, and gives figures you can check your own result against. The examples use the demo e-commerce database, but each one ends with where the same recipe applies to your data.

New to Xeplr Analytics? Start with the user guide. The case studies assume you can make a dataset (03.2) and a report (04.2).

Formulas

  • Count a row only when its group qualifies: each order’s WIP output, but only for orders that consumed material. Excel’s helper column with SUMIFS on A2, as one formula with $thisrow; why the database’s own advice (add the column to GROUP BY) gives 0 everywhere; and what runs, in one database pass.
